Why Wont My Ipod Touch Charge On My Speaker Dock?

I have a speaker dock, and my old ipod (pink nano 4gb) charges fine on them, but my touch will play, but not charge with them. Whats up with that? Its realy irritation having to plug my ipod in to charge it, especially as it runs out of battery so quickly! Any advice?
